2014 Keurig BC Cup at Grouse Mountain Resort winner Martin Grasic of Windermere Valley Ski Club!
Ben getting his first place award as Canadian Champion at Whistler Creekside on March 24th. It’s been a long road and a lot of hard work and training, coming from our little ski club: The Windermere Valley Ski Club.
It was another great year for our kids at the annual Linda Putnam hosted impeccably by Team Panorama.
Our four boys, Emmett and Stirling McDonald, Ross Haworth and Gus Connery Boyer, joined Team Panorama and several other teams from Fernie, Lake Louise, Jasper and Banff.
The event was wonderfully managed, with two courses (GS and Kombi), and each child was provided 4 starts on each to ensure that they were able to definitively achieve best times. Our boys held their own amid fields of tremendous young talent. We are so very proud of their performances!
With over two hundred children and the hard work of so many dedicated volunteers, it was, without a doubt, another great success!
Congratulations Emmett, Stirling, Ross and Gus!
Gina, Rebecca and Steven had some great speed results in the NOR AM’s out east as well as Tyra represented us well at U18 Nationals as part of the BC Team.
We just finished a great speed camp at Kimberly followed by a Down hill race, a Super G and a Night slalom.
Highlight would be Rebecca’s second place finish in Downhill and Steven Fry on top of the podium as the DH winner!
The older kids are now competing at the NOR AM Finals at Nakiska and COP!
The entire team will then head out to Whistler for the Senior Nationals and spring series!
The van will be putting on the miles! Thanks again for the support and keeping us rolling!
Catching up on news!
Windermere Valley Ski Club is very proud of Martin Grasic U18 2013 Canadian Champion.
A great accomplishment by this determined skier. Way to go Martin!
Martin skied for many years with WVSC and for the last two years, Martin has been representing BC skiing with the BC Team. Martin’s parents Katarina and Dusan support Martin and are active members of WVSC .

BC Team’s Martin Grasic is Men’s U18 Overall Champ at Ontario U18 Nationals
Congratulations to Invermere’s Martin Grasic (BC Ski Team, Windermere Valley Ski Club), the 2013 U18 Overall Canadian Champion!
Martin Grasic (BC Ski Team/Windermere Valley Ski Team) – “I was very happy to win the overall at the U18 nationals in Collingwood this week. It’s the first time I have won an award that requires that level of consistency, so I think it was a big step forward for me. It was also a nice way to end the week after struggling the last two days in the GS. This result, along with Team BC finishing second in the provincial standings, goes to show what a great team we had at the event, both coaches and athletes.”
March saw the U16 Povincials at Red Mountain. Our skiers made a great showing!
Courtney Hoffos ended up third in two of the races, one GS and one Slalom. Unfortunately, she did not complete two races.
She straddled one of the last gates in a slalom run, disqualifying her and fell in a GS run. The athletes need to complete two runs for a race. She has though, had a great season and for BC Overall, she was awarded third place.
Finley Spiegl also skied well, and we have seen tremendous improvement in her skiing. Finley’s skied solidly with her best result being 19th in GS; her other results were 25th in GS and 27th in Slalom. She ranked 32nd overall in BC.
The completion is tough, and these racers try very hard!
The Annual Helen Bavin Invitational was another great success!
Fun and a ton of sunshine were enjoyed by all as we were hosted by Chris Veen and his Team Fairmont Racers at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort Family Ski Area once again.
While Team Fairmont came out on top there was plenty of fun to be had by all.
We look forward to participating again next year!
