Courtney Hoffos makes Canada Ski Cross Team

WVSC Alum Courtney Hoffos Is Member of Canada Ski Cross Team

Windermere Valley Ski Club member, Courtney Hoffos made the switch from alpine ski racing to ski cross last year and she hasn’t looked back.  Since Courtney was a strong alpine the racer coached by both Helmut Spiegl and Mike Lewis, she had a lot of the skills and the drive to do well at ski cross.

Making its debut in 2010, ski cross stands as one of the newest additions to the winter Olympics.  With a relatively new sport like ski cross, athletes and organizations stand to gain a tremendous amount from innovate programs.  Alpine Canada Alpin and the Canada Ski Cross program is creating a Centralized Training and Education Program in Calgary, Alta., which will allow athletes to simultaneously pursue post-secondary education and high performance sport.

Now a member of the Canada Ski Cross team, Courtney was selected for this program in Calgary.  Courtney is studying at the Haskayne School of Business at University of Calgary, training and racing with the “Nexgen” Canada Ski Cross team.
